Residential Prescriptive Rebate Program FAQs

Who is eligible?
North Shore Gas customers on Service Classification 1 and some customers on Service Classification 2 are eligible to participate in the Residential Prescriptive Rebates portion of the North Shore Gas Natural Gas Savings Program.

What products qualify for rebates?
High-efficiency furnaces, boilers and boiler reset controls that meet or exceed efficiency levels and requirements outlined in the Residential Prescriptive Rebates Application qualify for rebates.

When do the products need to be purchased?
Products must be purchased and installed by May 31, 2012. All applications must be received within 30 days of installation.

Funds are limited, so rebate amounts are subject to change or termination without notice.

How do I apply for a rebate?
Print a copy of the Residential Prescriptive Rebates Application. Complete and mail the application with the supporting documents to:

What do I need to include with my application?
You must include the following documentation with your rebate application:
  • An itemized invoice that includes the price of the equipment and installation costs; and
  • Specification sheet showing the equipment meets program standards.

Can I apply for my rebate online?
No. The rebates are redeemable by mail only.

Where can I purchase a qualifying product?
You can purchase qualifying products through professional contractors. Only equipment meeting the program efficiency guidelines are eligible for rebates. Please refer to page 2 of the Residential Prescriptive Rebates Application for equipment efficiency levels and requirements. North Shore Gas does not endorse any particular manufacturers, products or system designs by offering these programs.

Can you recommend a contractor?
North Shore Gas neither endorses nor guarantees specific contractors or their work. To ensure safe and proper installation and to qualify for a rebate, equipment must be installed by a professional contractor in accordance with manufacturer specifications and state and local codes.

I am a landlord. Am I eligible for the rebates?
Yes. But owners of multi-family buildings may not receive rebates for more than one of each of the eligible items.

Will a rebate affect my taxes?
Please consult with a tax advisor to determine if rebates for residential energy efficiency products are taxable by the IRS.

How long will it take to receive my rebate?
Customers typically receive rebates in six to eight weeks after submitting their application. Please note that incomplete applications can delay payments or result in denial of a rebate.
